La Noruega`s History

Plaza Isla Mujeres

It all started when a young couple from Norway decided to explore the world for a little while back in 2007.
Merethe and Daniel first left Norway in August 2007 after some good advice from a friend. They first studied Spanish in Guanajuato, a beautiful town high up in the mountains.
After 4 months of studies, new advice was given about an amazing island in the Carribbean, just off the coast of Cancun.
Isla Mujeres!
After arriving here they both got caught up in the amazing atmosphere on the island, the peace and tranquility, the beautiful beaches, sights and adventures! They thought they had arrived in paradise, and decided to find a way to stay, and maybe even help out a little bit.

After a lot of thought about what to do on Isla, they came up with several good ideas, and among them were Isla`s first art gallery.
La Noruega S.A. DE C.V was born in April 2008 and after having their patience tried on several occasions, they finally got all documents and permissions needed to start up.
Their first art collection is entirely donated by Ann Christin Birkenes, and will help La Noruega survive during the roughest times.
Merethe and Daniel are now proud to invite you to come see our beautiful and varied paintings, jewelry, clothes and crafts!

La Noruega is the only black building on Isla Mujeres, and can easily be found in Avenida Benito Juarez, only a short walk from the ferry, on Plaza Isla Mujeres.
